![]() | Hello friends, It’s July! Is it just me or is time flying by fast? Perhaps it’s because we’ve been so busy. We gave our newsletter logo a spiffed up new look. The new platform we’re on is offering many new opportunities. LIFE now has its own Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages. Take a peek at our posts. |
Oh, and a newly revised web site will be in place soon … I hope.
July is a bit of an emotional month for me. The 4th of July holiday marks 4 years since my Bob departed. Grief is an unusual learning curve. I have named grief, Mr. Grief. He no long stalks me frequently. Yet, he still makes his obtrusive presence known just when I least expect him. I’m learning to tell him his visits are unwelcome. For anyone dealing with loss, you understand what I’m saying. I will end this on an upbeat, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY 🇺🇸❗️ It’s my “eat a hot dog day!”🌭
Cheers,

These smallest of warm-blooded animals also have the fastest wingbeats and heartbeat of any bird, and they are the only birds that can fly backward and straight up and down. If there were a bird version of competitive eating, they’d surely nab a prize for being able to consume half their body weight in food every day. And they have the amazing ability to lower their body temperature on a nightly basis to save energy: The Black Metaltail in the Peruvian Andes holds the record for lowest body temperature (38 degrees F) ever recorded in a bird.

Around the world this summer, professional and amateur astronomers alike will be fixed on one small constellation deep in the night sky. But it’s not the seven stars of Corona Borealis, the “Northern Crown,” that have sparked such fascination.

It’s July! The month of picnics, boating, beaches, and family gatherings. Can we detox ourselves from our cell phones this month? Can we simply have fun and talk and exchange opinions and enjoy each other’s company? Can we unplug, unwind, and savor the moments that don’t fit in a square frame? Can we drop the Aww and the LOL? OK. I’ve become a curmudgeon. There was a time when we conversed and looked into each other’s eyes, not down on our phones waiting for the next beep.
